Lemon-Lime Fruit Water

How-To, In the Kitchen

I’ve noticed a craze around the internet lately for fruit infused water. I recently won this fruit infusion pitcher and figured I would give it a shot!

Fruit Water First, I bought a couple lemons and limes at the store and cut them into slices. Most of them were a bit too big to fit into the “Fruit Infusion Rod” so I then sliced them in half again. This pitcher was meant for fruit so it had this handy rod. It is unnecessary and all you actually need is a pitcher that holds water.

Lemon and Lime Fruit Water  Once you’re finished slicing, simply toss the fruit into the infusion rod and let it sit for an hour or two.

ta-da!

While I was researching fruit water I read that the lime peels can start to ruin the taste of the water. I left mine in for about four hours and definitely noticed that. I’d recommend that after around 3 hours, take the fruit out and toss it. Then you’ll still have refreshing water, without the fruit peels ruining the taste!

#ProTip: When I won the basket this came in the lady sitting behind me tapped me on the shoulder and whispered, “you make vodka with that!”  I haven’t had a reason to try it yet, but apparently you poor in the vodka, add some fruit and there you’ll have your favorite flavored vodka!

This is great! I get so tired of drinking plain water but love water with lemon or lime. I definitely need to look into one of these pitchers. I bet it’d make good sangria, too. :)

That’s so cool! I’ve been adding lemon to water for years, but you’re right – the rinds do make an odd taste after awhile. I think I might need that pitcher in my life.

I used to have this same pitcher. Some things turned out great (I remember liking oranges and strawberry/kiwi, except the strawberries mush up kind of quick). One tip though: I tried pineapple once and it came out HORRIBLE, I couldn’t understand why it was so gross.

Oh I will try those combos. I’d guess it’s because pineapple is mostly water already? I dunno. Thanks!

This is so cool. I’ve been looking for an incentive to drink more water and I love to add lemons to my water and I didn’t know about the rinds.

I did read that it was only the lime rinds that caused the problem, but better safe than sorry with the lemons too, ya know? :)
