The Gospel Centered Woman

Book Review, Giveaway, Reading

Disclosure: I received this book + book to give away for free in exchange for an honest review. The opinions are my own.

I had a hard time leaving college because I went to a really awesome bible study group.  When I moved to law school it took nearly a year to find a new church and I honestly have not found a Small Group like the one we had in college.

A huge part of the reason that group was so amazing, was the leader, Katie.  Katie was a school teacher at the time and definitely has the spiritual gift of teaching. She created awesome curriculum and lead us through difficult and life-applicable portions of scripture. In a box in my closet somewhere I would bet I still have folders containing the studies we went through, fresh and newly decorated before each season.

So when Katie posted on facebook that she was writing a book I could not wait to see what God had in store for her. She kindly sent me a copy of Gospel Centered Womanhood and generously sent one for me to give away as well.

I wanted to read through it and soak up some of her wisdom before I shared it with all of you. I’m several chapters in at this point and let me tell you, girlfriends, I can hear Katie’s soul speaking Jesus on every single page. This devotional was written for women of all ages and in all life stages. It would be perfect to lead your own small group/bible study.  I use it in the mornings for my Quiet Time and it has been really enlightening.

Women's Devotional

My Quiet Time.

Every chunk of text points us back to the truth of Jesus, and what it means for us as women. The scriptures used are relevant and the explanations are insightful. I would love for you all to check out Katie’s blog and book and see for yourself what a passion she has for teaching Christ’s word. The book is currently for sale for both your Kindle and hard copy (which is on sale right now, too)!

I would love to read this. The chapters sound great. I would choose the chapter: Those in Need. I have MS and other illness that I’m dealing with and this book would really help me I believe to calm me and help me understand. Thanks for the chance. GREAT Book.

I’ve been thinking a lot about redemption lately and would probably gravitate toward those chapters first.

My Journey to Having a Quiet Time - And 5 Tips on How to Organize One - Where My Soul Belongs
    June 18, 2015 at 8:03 am

[…] I went to years of an awesome bible study lead by my friend Katie. She had “homework” during the week and I really wish I had actually done that homework on a consistent basis. I can only imagine how much better and more fulfilling my college years had been if I did that. (Of note, I did not party in college. I worked full time. But I, like probably everyone, was still figuring out who I was as a person and did not have a day-to-day example of what it looked like to be a responsible, female adult. I think focusing on a quiet time, any time of day, would have been incredibly helpful here). Katie wrote a great devotional that you buy on amazon. […]
