Who is awake at 5 AM?!

This morning I had to wake up at 5 AM.

I volunteered at a CLE. I didn’t realize volunteering would mean a wake up call two hours earlier than normal.

It was totally worth it and I had a super awesome time. But…

5 AM!!!

Anyway, I needed to be there at 6:30 so I figured I would leave at 6 and get there just in time.

Seriously, who is on the freeway at 6 AM? No one, right?

Everyone is on the road at 6 AM. Seriously, what are those people doing?!

I was stopped going zero mph at one point. I expect this at 5 PM. I expect this when I drive to Portland at the same time as everyone else like in the photo above. I expect this at 8 AM. But I am normally asleep at 6 AM and I figured everyone else was too.

Needless to say, I had to make a phone call to the woman in charge and let her know I’d be arriving when check in started instead of thirty minutes before. She was very gracious and we wondered together, “Who are ALL these people and WHAT are they doing up so early?!” I arrived at 7 AM, and the rest of the day went off without a hitch.

But it leads me to a question… What time do you start your morning commute, and how long does it take you to arrive to your location?

I obviously don’t have to commute, but Jarrod drives about 35 miles to get to work. Almost all of his drive is on the interstate so he can go 70/75mph and it takes him about half an hour. The traffic isn’t too bad because he’s driving at 6am. I wouldn’t have thought you’d have that much traffic, that’s for sure. His drive back is always busier because it’s 3:30 to 4 when school is getting out, but still only takes about half an hour.

haha, this cracks me up! I’m up at 5:30 every morning to hit the gym and on the road shortly after ;) I will say, this is a lot of traffic for 6!

No morning commute over here…except to the coffee pot when I hear the first kiddo stir in the morning. That first sound starts my day anywhere from 5:45 – 6:45 a.m.

This is one of the biggest reasons I left Southern CA!! Right now I live 12 miles away from work and it takes me 19 minutes to get there. BUT on Sunday I’m moving, and I’ll only be 2 miles away from work!! YAY! 5am is the devil.
