If you’re new here, I love to set short term monthly goals that fit with my values and hopes for the New Year’s Resolutions that I set. I think that short-term checkpoints create a greater chance for success because it keeps our goals fresh in our mind and they’re more manageable than our wild and crazy ideas from January 1st.

True story, I started to type this title out and then thought, “No way. This is wrong,” erased it, and then realized I was right. Tomorrow is November?! How did that happen?!

October Progress & November Goals in faith, fitness, finances and self-care

Let’s review my October Goals:

October Goal Progress

Personal

Read 1 Book and Listen to 1 Audiobook – Started

Physical BookSee Me by Nicholas Sparks.  As I said last month, I borrowed this from a co-worker so I have to give it back soon. I’m about 1/3 through it I think, and I really enjoy it! It’s significantly longer than most Nicholas Sparks books so I’m trying to not feel too bad about how long it’s taking me haha

Audiobook: My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. My book club (which I haven’t been to in awhile, so I’d like to start going again) picked this book for the month, and luckily, I had already used an audible credit to purchase it! Wahoo! Unluckily, it’s a 13 hour long audiobook and I’m only like 2 hours in. Fingers crossed!

Keep Up With My Bible Reading PASS!

I’m loving the new bible study we’ve started. It’s Beth Moore’s new one, called Entrusted.

Good morning to you too, Monday. #entrusted

Stay Ahead One Week PASS!

I had at least one post scheduled a week in advance every week, and sometimes two! Wahoo!

Fitness

Register for Another 5k  PASS!
I am registered for a Thanksgiving themed 5k this month. There are, like, a million Thanksgiving themed 5ks. This one I’m doing with close friends that are like family to me, including a 9 year old for her first 5k ever! It won’t be competitive, which is hard for me, but I think it will be really fun!

It will probably take all of November to work off the brunch we had at Salty’s this month. I’ll definitely have to tell you guys about it later.

Finances

Do the Best I Can with My Snowball Payment if I Have to Travel

I did not have to travel this month and my snowball payments are all right on time.

November Goals

I’m starting this month off knowing I have two huge hearings and J and I are hosting his family for Thanksgiving. So I know I won’t have a ton of spare time. I need to focus on what’s important and taking care of my health.

Remember, goals are really important, but it’s OK to be kind to yourself and not place unrealistic expectations on your own shoulders!

One unofficial goal is to finish the Lazy Girls Guide to Lightroom course I downloaded in the Ultimate Blogging Bundle so that photos like this one can look their absolute best!

Personal

Read 1 Book and Listen to 1 Audiobook – This goal will be present all year long. I absolutely have to finish these books this month, so they’re staying on the list.

Physical Book: Read See Me by Nicholas Sparks.  I don’t want to say that I’m giving up on The Best Yes, but I would like to add a fiction book to the mix. So See Me it is! This is out of order from my book list I shared two weeks ago, but I borrowed it from a co-worker so I want to promptly return it.

Audiobook: My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. My book club (which I haven’t been to in awhile, so I’d like to start going again) picked this book for the month, and luckily, I had already used an audible credit to purchase it! Wahoo!

Keep Up With My Bible Reading

Given how busy and emotional the rest of 2016 is lined up to be, staying focused on my bible reading is going to be very important. I don’t want to make the same mistake I did over the spring where I stopped taking care of myself and ended up exhausted, sick and anxious! One way to remain focused on the bigger picture and let go of my sometimes-need for control is to keep my eyes on the Lord.

Floss every night

I had a dentist appointment two weeks ago and for the first time in years didn’t have a new cavity when I got there!!! yay! I want to keep that going. I got a new toothbrush that will help me brush and floss better. I’ll tell you guys about it later this week.

October Progress & November Goals in faith, fitness, finances and self-care

Yay for no cavities!!

Blogging

Stay Ahead One Week

I want to have at least one post written ahead each week. It takes so much pressure off, which makes writing other post significantly easier.

Fitness

Work Out 15 Times this Month
I’m running the 5k, I have my normal barre classes, and I bought a punch card for yoga at my studio. I don’t know that I’ll be able to do three times a week, but I can at least average something close to that!

Keep up on my Snowball and Make a Budget for Christmas

It is still possible that I would be traveling out of state this month. I have also caught myself buying small presents for people already. I guess this means I’m a real grownup, huh? Anyway, I want to make sure that I don’t over-spend or under-estimate what Christmas will cost me this year. Hopefully, at some point this month, I’ll be able to come up with a Christmas spending budget.

You can read more about my debt payoff strategy here.

What are your goals for November? How did October go for you? Are you still on track for your resolutions? If not there’s nothing stopping you from figuring it out now, or setting new ones to get us through the last quarter of 2016! Do you have any early Christmas shopping tips?

Congrats on your progress! I love audiobooks! I listen during my commute and while doing housework. The one you’re currently listening to looks interesting.

October went by so fast it’s crazy and I see your progress is going well, that’s great. October was definitely successful so I’m glad. I plan to spend more time outdoors admiring God’s creation, serving others, take advantage of black friday, cook more and devise a schedule for my blog. For Christmas shopping I recommend hitting clearance and subscribing to your favorite stores so you know when they are having a sale. It doesn’t always have to be a store bought present, printing pictures/making a collage is an inexpensive way to make a present for someone. Also outlet malls have awesome deals and you will literally save hundreds of dollars.

Your progress is so great to see! I love that you set a fitness goal of exercising 15 times during the month of November…for some reason it makes it seem much more do-able than thinking of it as 3 times a week. :)

I spent the summer reading the Neapolitan novels. I hope you are able to find time for them, because they are brilliant! True masterpieces!! All 4 are great, but I think the second is my favorite.

[…] It is a productive time for me, and I can get way more writing done in the morning before being a lawyer all day exhausts my brain entirely. But I’m not naturally good at waking up early. So to compensate for that, I have some habits that I follow at night to make the mornings easier. Every so often I try to add a new goal to this method so that I can further improve my productivity, abilities and strengths in my personal and professional life. For example, you’ll remember from Monday’s post that my goal for November is to floss every day. […]
