College Basketball Games & School Spirit

Lawyering, Pre-Lawyer

For my 27th birthday I got really lucky and was invited to go with some friends to a huge basketball game.  We even spent some time at the alumni event ahead of time, which made me feel like a real school fan.

My law school was playing in my new-area-of-the-country.  It’s notoriously hard to get tickets to the game, so even when I was in school I only got to go to one in three years. That game was the first of the new semester, so we had less competition from the undergrads, who were willing to camp out in the ticket line.

Anyway, the game was a TON of fun. We had killer seats and lots to celebrate. The team won and everyone was happy.

Then afterwards, my friend from school (above) and I went out “on the town” to celebrate my growing old. At about 9:00 I said I was ready to go home and keep studying for the bar exam. Thankfully I have friends who are cooler than I am. She convinced me to stay and we had a blast. It was the best 27th birthday I could have ever imagined.

Mostly, I was excited to get to wear a school sticker on my face like I always see on the adorable undergrads on TV. There’s a first for everything, folks!

Sounds like a fun birthday! Still wondering how I made it through years as a college cheerleader without ever getting to wear one of the face stickers… I guess it’s never too late :)

It is never too late! You should make sure to rectify that the next time you can go to a sporting event. It makes things more fun :)

Jealous! I would go to the Battle every year when I lived in Washington, and I get really sad watching it on TV now! Glad you had a good birthday, love the new blog!
