September Goals

Debt Repayment, Fitness, Jesus

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared my monthly goals, and with the seasons changing here in the Pacific North West, it seems like a good time. Here are a few goals I hope to accomplish during the month of September! (PS. Where has this month gone?!)
Monthly Goals - September

Healthy Living

1. Workout 3 times a week
My Barre membership requires you to RSVP. On Sundays I check out my schedule and then book my classes for the week. This week will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I have a young lawyer meeting on Tuesday and then a 5k on Saturday. By checking my schedule and then scheduling in workouts, I’m actually able to meet my workout goals!

2. Run a 5k
This is kind of a filler goal. I registered today for a 5k on Saturday. This is likely my only chance this month to run one. We will be out of town for a wedding one full weekend, and then I’ll be in Canada (!!) for Blog Podium 2015. My insurance has rewards for staying healthy and doing fitness related activities. This 5k will be my Fitbit reward! I couldn’t wait until October to get one so I figured I better squeeze in a 5k where I could!

Debt Repayment

1. Don’t charge anything*
One thing that has surprised me about my debt repayment, is the habit I’ve formed. The payments I made each payment are automated. I can schedule out payments up to 3 months in advance with my bank. Every month I review my budget and make sure everything makes sense. I keep an eye on all of my accounts using the Mint App. And every two weeks, the day after I get my paycheck, the money disappears from my account and goes straight to my credit card. Singular. Because in the last 9 months I’ve paid off all but one card!

Anyway, all of this to say that I no longer even think about the amount of debt I’m PAYING. But every once in awhile I catch myself charging a splurge at Target that I don’t need. I usually go back and return stuff, but I need to kill the habit of random card purchases. This month = zero credit card charges! *I added an asterick to say that I might need to charge a thing or two that are travel related, just for the protection that credit cards offer while traveling. Anything I do have to charge, I will pay off immediately.

1. Start a new You Version reading plan
I’m almost done wtih Joyce Meyer’s Confident Woman reading plan. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I do like the format so I’d like to jump into another plan but I’m having a hard time chosing one.

1. Sew something
It’s been a long time since I’ve sewn anything. This is partly because my new apartment doesn’t have a convenient space to do so. I don’t have a dining room table anymore, but my last apartment had a giant island I could use. I’ll have to look into a sewing table of some sort soon, especially with Christmas coming up!

What are your goals for the month?? Share them in the comments!

dude. the charging thing. i’m so guilty of that. mine isn’t like a big splurge but a small splurge right away. that’s why i was so freaking stoked to reduce my debt to just the one card i can immediately pay off when i use it, you know?

Such great goals. I want to read 4 books, but other than that, nothing too exciting goalwise for this month!

Great goals! My big goals are to start a new devotional and put $800 down on my credit card.

Fabulous goals! I’ve found that scheduling my workouts helps too (I usually schedule them for the month). Now that my half is over, it’s time to get back to the gym.

As for the protection of credit cards. I recently learned from Dave Ramsey that your debit card should be as safe as a credit card for travel or car rentals or whatever if you process as a credit card. :)
