Two on Twosday

Blogging, shopping

It’s Tuesday! Typically Tuesdays are hard for me, but Stephanie has made them fun! I feel like I’m always more tired on Tuesdays than Mondays! So let’s perk this place up a bit and head on over to her blog to link up Two random things you’re thinking about on this lovely Twosday. (See what I did there?)

I told you guys on Friday that I am changing hosts here at WMSB. I purchased my three years of hosting on Bluehost. Then at like 10:00 on Friday night I decided I would try to transfer the hosting myself. After working all day, happy hour at night, and then cleaning my house for my friend Alicia’s visit, I should not have taken on a complicated tasks that was completely foreign to me.

It turns out that the tutorial I used wasn’t for transferring hosts. It was migrating something else. Everything was going well until it was time to change my blog URL. I changed it… and then everything broke. Everything broke because apparently you don’t need to do that to accomplish what I was trying to accomplish, and now I’d redirected my entire site to something that didn’t exist. By then it was midnight, I was freaking out, and everyone was asleep. At one point I was near tears. Another time I yelled, “Please help me!” at google and then thought that’s probably a bad thing to yell in the middle of the night in case my neighbors think I’m being attacked or something haha. But I wasn’t even able to LOG IN to WordPress!

In the end, I was able to fix it thanks to really helpful tutorial that took me step by step into my cPanel. I didn’t even know what a cPanel was. It all loaded, I could get back into WordPress, and all of my content was still there. And then right when I thought I was ready for bed, I clicked a link to Saturday’s post and it gave me a 500 Internal Server Error. Uh, what?!

Back to google I went. Everything I read said that it could mean anything. One thing I read was that it could be the .htaccess file corrupt. I figured out what that did and saw that it’s the permalink setup. On one last ditch effort before going to bed I went to the permalink settings in WordPress and just hit “save” again. The permalink said it was right before hitting save, but I hoped that this would re-set the links since I had briefly changed the URL of my blog, which changed the permalinks. Thank goodness, it worked! Everything is back up and running. And while I think I could try again and make it happen, I’m not going to. I do a lot on my own around WMSB, but even I know when being frugal isn’t the right choice. I don’t need another night of up until 3 AM and functioning on only four hours of sleep, so it’s worth the money to me to pay someone to transfer the host for me.

The last time I bought foundation I figured I would splurge and also buy mascara. I buy Clinique makeup almost exclusively. I love it. 90% of my makeup bag is full of Clinique product. So the mascara seemed like a great option. I should have known better based on my last Clinique mascara debacle.

clinique mascara

See those mascara marks? That’s from this mascara being so messy.

I haven’t had an allergic reaction to this one or anything, but oh my gosh it is THE worst mascara I’ve ever used. It clumps both in the bottle and on my eyes. It’s super messy. The wand is not useful. Nothing about this mascara is good.

I know I don’t talk about makeup around here very often, but I had to share with you guys in case you were thinking of classing up your mascara game. For some reason this is their most popular seller (according to the gal who helped me buy it), and I feel like it’s my duty to tell you not to buy it. gah!

Awww, such a bummer that mascara was a dud! And girl, you’re crazy for trying to do that yourself, but props to you! haha. I wouldn’t have the guts.

I probably would have been crying if I messed up my blog like that too.

I’m super cheap when it comes to my make but the best mascara I’ve found lately is the Revlon Lash Potion.
