How to Wear J. Crew While Living on a Budget

Have I ever told you guys how much I love J. Crew? It’s a lot. Like… a lot. But I can’t afford J. Crew’s full price products. Their clearance section often has stylish items at great prices. But even better, there is a J. Crew Factory near my house that always has great deals!

At the bottom of this post you can enter to win a $150 gift card to J. Crew! Heavenly! My favorite thing about J. Crew is that you can buy clothes that are perfect for a weekend around town, a day at the office, an important hearing or a special date night. In fact, one of my favorite suits is from J. Crew and I got it for a steal of a deal of $25 at a consignment shop! WHAT?!

They say you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have. But that’s not easy when you’re on a budget. That’s why I’m sharing these 9 options for great J. Crew style without breaking the bank!

OK so the pink shorts aren’t work friendly if you’re a lawyer, but if you have a job that’s outside during the summer, or perhaps work for a more casual start-up, I say “why not?!” I feel like these shorts are also PERFECT for a weekend wine tasting with your girlfriends (or by yourself) or even camping if you don’t mind that they’ll probably show dirt sooner than your standard denim jeans. Pair them with the scarf and those earrings and suddenly you’re classy enough (and warm enough) to take the outfit to a nearby museum!

I was once told at a networking event that all professional women should own a string of pearls. I have a simple necklace now, but I also own several more interesting ones. I LOVE this necklace and I think it would look awesome with the Tailored Shift Dress. Because it’s light wool, a softer necklace will balance it out, AND the material is sturdy so it will hold its shape after a ton of wears. I hate when I buy a nice dress and it gets misshapen. And those pumps… oh my gosh, duh! I know I just told you guys that I’m cutting back on heels, but I haven’t cut them out of my life forever and the price point is perfect on this classy pair. I firmly believe that every woman needs one pair of black pumps and one pair of red ones. Trust me. One morning when you’re having a hard time, put on the red pair and then conquer the world!

Want to wear a dress on a more casual level? Add the chambray top to the day break dress. Done! Then throw your supplies for the day into the striped canvas clutch and you’re ready for a day-date around town, a coffee shop afternoon in the sun with a book, or even church! I love it! Hey, do that in reverse order and you’re in for a wonderful Sunday.

Are you ready to go on a spring shopping spree without breaking the break? Enter to win a $150 J. Crew giveaway with the rafflecopter below! This giveaway kicks off a 4-part series so if J. Crew isn’t your thing, just wait until next week :).

    J. Crew is my favorite place to shop!! There’s a Factory store near my parents’ house that I go to all the time when I’m there. The other day, I got a $60 skirt for $11 with their discount and a gift card I had. I think J. Crew is totally affordable with all of the discounts they offer!

Oh man! What a steal! I love the Factory. I think many people write J. Crew off, assuming that it will be expensive. But it’s actually not too bad!

While my job is rather “casual” all the time ;), I wouldn’t mind looking put together even as a stay-at-home mama!
