Surf the Web Sundays – v. 38

Blogging, Debt Repayment

For the last 37 episodes of Surf the Web, the posts have been on Saturdays. Two weeks ago, I got caught up doing something on Saturday and didn’t get it posted until Sunday. There were a lot more views, comments and shares of the post. Since the whole purpose of this post is share posts for other people to read, I think it makes a lot more sense to try out publishing on Sunday for awhile. If more eyeballs will be on WMSB on Sunday, then that seems a lot better for sharing these amazing posts!!

Surf the Web Sundays: This Week's Best Posts Around the Web
Morgan shared how she stockpiles blog posts to get her through life’s changes, including having a baby! These tips are so helpful for me, because when I have a lot going on at work or am preparing for a hearing, my brain has a hard time writing new content. Planning ahead is the only way I can be consistently in this space, and Morgan’s tips will help me even more!

This HUGE list of DIY wall art ideas and tutorials is so inspiring! I have some large walls in my house but I can’t justify spending hundreds of dollars on pieces big enough to fill the space. I scour the Home Goods clearance art section whenever I happen to be near one, but I’d much rather give one of these great DIY ideas a shot!

Speaking of spending money, Stephanie shared her sixth debt repayment recap. It’s so inspiring! If you’ve written any financial-based posts, you can share them on her linkup too!

Something I find fascinating right now is the idea of Oil Pulling. Trina shares her true story of how her husband healed a cavity! She no longer uses standard toothpaste and she and her husband watched as oil pulling healed a tooth in his mouth. Crazy! I started researching this after going to a dentist six months ago who told me I needed a two year treatment plan that, conveniently, cost the same amount as my max dental benefit for two years in a row. Then I went to a different one after getting a crown at Dentist #1 was a HORRIFIC experience (and she said I needed FIVE MORE), and he gave me a drastically different diagnosis. In fact, his treatment plan involves zero crowns. Zero.

I do need a cavity filled and a filling replaced, which is a bummer but better than what I was told six months ago. It blows my mind that there’s no way to reverse tooth decay. I signed up for a boca box subscription and ordered their 2-week supply of oil pulling packets, so I wanted to do more research on the subject. After reading Trina’s post, I spend 3 hours surfing the internet for more information on the concept! I still haven’t been brave enough to actually use the packets, but I’m getting there! I do have an affiliate link but I’m going to direct you to Rebecca’s post instead. She has a 25% off coupon code that I used to buy a year long subscription (which includes four electric toothbrush heads + more!) and the two weeks supply of oil pulling packets for less than $60! The box is so fun and I loved getting it in the mail!

Also on my to-do list today is planting the seeds for my garden. This post by Jenn has some great tips on how to get your garden ready! I haven’t decided where to put my garden yet, but I’m excited to start off on the right foot.

Splurge of the Week: This Plum Paper Planner! $56 after add-ons, taxes and shipping. Base price without add-ons = $31 + taxes/shipping. It’s supposed to arrive this week and I can’t wait! I will definitely let you guys know what I think. I’m currently using a Day Designer, but it’s an academic year planner and I already have hearings booked out past the end of this one so I can’t wait for the release of their next one. Also, I saw the flagship planner is just grey-scale on the inside and I prefer bright pops of color. So after reading a ton of reviews online, I decided to give Plum Paper a shot!

On My Shopping List: NARS Audacious Lipstick in Grete! (aff link) I went to a wedding last night and forgot to throw lipstick in my clutch. My friend M let me borrow hers and I loved it! I could have blended it a little better before this selfie but the sun was so bright I couldn’t see very well haha. In any case, with one touchup after dinner, it still looked fabulous when I got home hours later! I definitely need to own this ASAP.

I have a plum paper planner (my mom got it for me for Christmas) and I LOVE IT. I don’t do all the fancy planner-ish things that are all over the internet, but it could easily be done.
